50's Smile and Adventures in Linux

Hi everyone. Wow has it been a while! I've been doing a lot in the past 6 months. Not art, so much, but mostly studying for my A+ examination which I've taken and passed :) I've also been dabbling around a lot with Linux. I'm actually running it as my primary OS at the moment which leads me to my paintings. Since Ubuntu Linux comes with Gimp I decided I'd give it a real go as a painting program. It's got some quirks here and there but overall it seems very able as a painting/illustration package. I've had fun using it and have created some satisfactory work.

The first one above was one of the first things I created in Gimp. I didn't have anything in particular in mind, just let the wacom pen flow. I added what I thought it needed to make it look complete then called it done. The second I just finished tonight. I've been wanting to try a pin-up style, so I took the opportunity to do so. I did not have any pose in mind (note the strange pose) but I think it came out good overall. The 50's Smile title is in reference to the pin-up character. Her hair-do is from the 50's era and she's smiling so...yeah.

Penciling with Hayden

Hi everyone! I hope you got a chance to visit ladmatic.com and see the changes. Yes, lately I've slacked on the digital stuff in favor of the good old traditional material. I certainly enjoy pencil and charcoal much more these days than I used to. This is Hayden Panettiere from Heroes better known as Clair. I also drew Christina Milian and Megan Fox. I'll upload those later. In the meantime enjoy!

Charcoal Alexis

Greetings everyone. I've got some traditional work for ya today....good ole' charcoal. The reference was an image of Alexis Bledel, most known from Gilmore Girls. No, I don't watch the show but my sister does and she thought it would be a nice subject. I went for it and I'm glad I did. I have a much better understanding of charcoal than I've ever had. Funny how all this stuff starts to click after college. I guess cause my hunger for art knowledge is much higher these days. Anyway, enjoy hopefully it won't be so long for my next update.

The King...

Hello everyone! I've got something different this time. That's right I've got a little fan art from my favorite video game series of all-time Super Smash Bros! I love Smash Bros Brawl and I love King Dedede so I chose to illustrate him and his companions. Drawing game characters was one of my original inspirations as a child, so it felt good to do so again after so long. Anyhow enjoy! The purpose of this one was to serve as a wallpaper so feel free to use it if you wish.

26

I'm back. Things have been crazy for a while, mostly cause I've been doing the Staples thing full time. The past couple of weeks it's been the graveyard shift :S. Anyway, I'm back with a brand new self portrait. This time I was influenced by the likes of Rembrandt. I like the dark mood and single light source so I implemented that into mine. Enjoy!

"She Wonders"

Hello everyone thanks for visiting. It took until the end of March to make a March post but anyways here ya go! This is my first successful profile painting. I had a great reference photograph from deviant art. http://neriah-stock.deviantart.com/

I have been doing some portrait work, trying to develop what I would call a LADmatic Portrait. When I find it I'll post. Cya.
